I bought this for my granddaughter who is discovering basketball. It was the only book I could find that was aimed at girls and appropriate for her age (12) and elementary to intermediate level.

Clear, concise and my grand daughter liked it. She is a sport nut and basketball is her favorite sport to participate in.

Weatherspoon is one of the most admirable players to come down the pike since the days of Bill Bradley. The book -- with lots of illustrative pictures -- is aimed at teaching younger players, but has good fundamental advice for players of any age (or gender, for that matter). What makes it fascinating are the set-off pieces by Weatherspoon that give an insight into her character. If you like her now, you'll come away liking her even more.

First, I would say how surprised I was to find that this book was a high-quality product. It is attractive, well laid out, and definitely an A+quality publication. From the quality of the paper to the attractive cover design and thoughtful layout, it is a first-rate publication.The writing style is very simplistic with an occasional insertion of humor and it gives some very practical and sound advice, somewhat similar to what any parent would hopefully give to their children. I had heard a lot of negative things about Scientology, but I see little wrong with this book. It's not perfect philosophically and has at least one bit of bad advice (saying at one point that whatever is true for you is true). However, I think it is a brilliantly written, simplified version of rules for living based upon logic and practicality.I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a very easy read and even an elementary school child could understand and benefit from reading it. Nothing evil about it.

Stuff like - "take a shower" and "be nice" packaged up as self help... meh

The actors are very believable, dressed like kids today, and are shown in very convincing real-life situations and dilemmas.Pulls no punches, isn't sugar coated, gets kids thinking and talking. Best of all, students learn why and how to treat others with respect.Would be a great gift to your school principal, PTA, a favorite teacher, a teen club or scouting group.

This book contains very practical and sensible advice about how to be happy. I'm not at all religious nor do I follow any of L. Ron Hubbard's religious beliefs so this was not a consideration for me. I was just curious about the contents and I'm satisfied it's all around good advice on how to live. Of course, isn't that what all religions and belief systems should teach anyway?

I bought this movie to be able to show to my young daughter to get her familiar with some of the basic ideas of how to live life and be happy. She loved the movie (her favorite was to practice) and she insisted on getting a copy of the book for herself.This movie helped answer some of her questions on how she act around her friends and how to make sure everyone stays happy.

I ordered this for my graduating grand daughter. It was worth it.

The key is getting your kids to actually do it. We have found that a number of schools and general scholarships have dropped the essays, however most school's Honor Programs require essays and it can be the tipping point for someone who is borderline in either grades or scores. My daughter was admitted into ASU's Honors program and her grades were not stellar but her ACT scores were. Because she didn't entirely meet the basic requirements she felt she wouldn't be given a look but we encouraged her to apply and the ideas she got from this book helped her plan out a thoughtful essay. Because they were willing to take a chance on her based on her essay, she felt motivated to achieve and completed her freshman year with a 3.8.

It did a good job addressing some of the writing issues I was having, and also offered some resources I had not seen before.
