I was pretty excited when I saw this book was available for review! I love Lysa Terkeurst's books, and I was definitely eager to read this one! With a name like "Uninvited," it tends to draw you in.Lysa begins with sharing about her childhood. A father who abandoned her, and countless times of rejection. She just wanted to feel safe. Instead of feeling down and rejected, what if we could look past other people's actions and moving forward in God's truth about us? What if we could stop falling apart and blaming our offenders, and instead process our hurt in a positive God honoring way?I can honestly say this book was not what I expected. While I felt that there was a great message in her words, I didn't feel as if I could totally relate to many of the examples used. Many of them had to do with hurts from years past, such as a broken heart or a dysfunctional upbringing. But the message was still fantastic and I feel that it could minister to a great many people. It just depends on what your past issues have been. I rate this book as 4 stars.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers.

There were some good points so for that I was thankful that I read. But overall it was not at all what I expected. It dealt more with past hurts such as divorce and a broken heart but did not touch much upon current issues with loneliness and feeling left out. I get the gravity of the past hurts. I was abandoned by a parent too and rejected by the one that stayed. It did help me to see that there might be something to address and work through with God that might be spurring some current hurts. But Lysa's readers are generally women and many of their current struggles are seeing friends getting together without an invitation or seeing social media highlight that we are not included or that they don't feel invited or included in their church family or with other school parents. There was really none of that (one quick reference to social media) but it was all the unveiling of her past broken heart and father rejecting her. I am not downplaying that at all. It is just that the title of her book indicates more material for feeling lonely and left out and it really was not any of that. I am really glad that I got it from the library as I almost bought it. I would have been really disappointed. I loved The Best Yes so much more.

I wanted to like this. A lot of Christian women in the circles I work in like the book, and I was excited to read it. It uses scripture -- a good thing, but that was the only part of the book that was helpful. She really did not do a good job of discussing how to deal with the main issue (assuming that you have read the Bible and are familiar with scripture). There are WAY too many personal stories of "oops" and way too much discussion of weight/body from a not very Christian perspective (way too much influence of culture and its view of beauty). I think in this category the better book options might be Surrender to Love by David Benner, Loveable by Kelly Flanagan, or perhaps even Anatomy of the Soul (really a Christian book about how our backgrounds and what we know about brain science intersect to explain why we feel the way we feel and what we can do about it).

This book was a recommendation in a group that I follow and I have to say that the authors style of writing is honest and very visual. She used her real life examples to explain scripture and God's love for us when we feel left out and less than. I related to many parts in the book and when I found myself saying "well what about?" Then behold the next chapter covered something that I was seeking. We've all felt pain in life and have been rejected. I can't say how much this book has done for me. I've been following along and highlighting and mediating on scriptures from the book in my bible as well. I wasn't raised in church. I was saved about three years ago and am learning so much about God's word and it's books like this that help me in my walk with him.You can tell that the author was genuine and not just trying to put a book out. I truly appreciate my sister in Christ and am so thankful that I was recommended this little gem that is helping me heal. This is also a book that can be highlighted and many things dead over and over for Motivation and affirmations.

Kept waiting to dig deeper into rejection and understanding it and resolving it, but could not find that deeper resolve in this book. Some supporting scripture, but that's it. Reminded me of a conversation with a girlfriend, so if that works for you you'll love this book.

About the Author

Lothar Helm studied physics at the University of Karlsruhe and got his diploma in 1977 in physical chemistry and electrochemistry. In 1980 he obtained his Ph.D. and joined the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Lausanne as post-doc. In 1999 he was appointed Privat Docent at the Faculty of Science of the University of Lausanne. Since 2006 he is titular professor and director of the NMR service of the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering. André E. Merbach, studied at the University of Lausanne and in 1964 was awarded a PhD. He then spent a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory at UC Berkeley. In 1965 he returned to the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry at Lausanne and created a research and teaching program in coordination chemistry. In 1973, the Swiss Chemical Society awarded him the Werner Prize and Medal for his research and he was nominated Professor of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry. éva T?th of the Centre de Biophysique Moleculaire, CNRS, Orleans, France, received her Ph.D. in 1994 at the University of Debrecen, Germany and then from 1995-2000 carried out post-doctoral research at the University of Lausanne with Professor Merbach. From 2001-2005 she was based at the EPFL before taking up the position of Director of Research at the CBM in Orleans. She has over 80 journal papers, 4 book chapters as well as acting as co-editor for the 1st edition of this book which was published in 2001.

Same format as earlier editions, with some updates.

Pros:-Seems to be the most current guide for SF as of my purchase date (July 2011).-LP has always been my go-to guide for both domestic and international travel. Its recommendations may not always be the best, but I think LP is the most consistently reliable guidebook. I appreciate that LP also segments restaurants/bars/accomodations by budget/midrange/high end so you can choose yourself rather than other guidebooks typically gear the entire book toward one type of traveler (Rough Guide for budget, Dorling Kindersley for higher end).-Guide features a pull-out map which was helpful.Cons:-I did not see (and I could have missed it) any public transportation maps, such as the underground or bus system. Some underground and trolley stops were marked on the pull-out maps but there was not seperate public transport guide/maps. I used the GPS function on my smartphone for bus routes, etc.-I agree with the previoius reviewer's (J. Wong's) comment about comparing LP to Trip Advisor. I have consistently found that the top Trip Advisor choices for a city are not featured in LP.

Badly organized and uninspiring.

Added little or nothing useful to the standard publication on SF. Seems to be an attempt to put out yet another book to sell. I threw it out.

In preparing for a trip to Hungary, I examined thoroughly the choices for Budapest.My favorite guidebook series has been Lonely Planet, and the Budapest Lonely Planet is fairly helpful. Although it doesn't give as thorough a treatment on accomodations, the book gives a lot of travel hints and secret. I found its facts for the visitors to be the most helpful, and the maps (placed at the very back of the book) to be the easiest to use. The frommer book, on the other hand, put the maps close to the section of the book referring to it. The organization of LP makes it easiest to use in the field; they tend to have the best background, history and cultural information. LP was particularly good about including rules, regulations and things like closing times. ON the other hand, there are not many photos, and they don't plan as many walking tours as the frommer book does. I didn't find the written descriptions that engaging, although the cultural background seemed well done.The Frommer's Budapest book (3rd edition) gave the best information about finding and choosing accomodations, but the book has no pictures and aside from a nice subway cover on the inside cover, the maps are hard to find and not very easy to use. Frommer's gives excellent information about prices and shops and restaurants; it's almost a guide to buying things rather than a tour book. I didn't find it particularly thorough about travel information, customs, or those sorts of details. That is not entirely fair. They have a nice section in the front a kind of "best of" list for things in budapest. The nice thing about the book is that it recommends things to do if you have only one day, three days or a week. They also suggested some itineraries for walking tours. The Fodor's Budapest pocket reference is drab and not full of much information. Don't get it. The Eyewitness Travel Guide on Budapest by Tadeusz Olszanski is the most eye-catching and the least helpful. It contains lots of graphics and diagrams and maps, and not too much information. The multitude of pictures are helpful in describing architecture, geography and art. On the other hand, its information on accomodations is very limited. Don't get me wrong; it's a beautiful and interesting book; it just is not as helpful as the other three. And it is two years old. I'm not necessarily saying that this book is bad, merely that it may not help you very much on the excursion. The Budapest: A Critical Guide by Andras Torok, 4th edition is a less complete and more personal account of things to do in Budapest. The other books were like encyclopedias, but this book was just a few personal recommendations about things to do and places to stay. Also, the writing for this book seems to be better than the other books. If you already are a little familiar with Budapest, but just want to learn about new and undiscovered places, this might be an excellent book. It certainly covers most of the bases, but it just doesn't try to list a huge number of accomodations or restaurants. I ended up buying the Frommer's and a used copy of the Eyewitness travel guide.

I've seen several reviews for other Lonely Planet Discover guides where people seemed unpleasantly surprised by what they got. Discover guides are not the classic Lonely Planet guides; they're a new series that was started a couple of years ago, and the originals are still being published as well.Lonely Planet describes the classic style as "the original; comprehensive; adventurous", while the Discover guides are "best-of; photo-packed; inspirational". In other words, the Discover guides don't have as much information as the original guides. What they do have is a lot of photographs and an attractive format that highlights don't-miss attractions. There's enough overlap in content that you probably won't want to buy both guides, and choosing between them will come down to individual preferences.One place where the Discover guide cuts back is on accommodations; there are only six pages of hotel listings, plus two pages of more general information. I was perfectly happy with this, since I had already chosen accommodations independently and didn't need a lot of hotel details taking up space in (and adding weight to) my travel guide. And the Discover guide does have a useful chart comparing the pros and cons of different neighbourhoods of San Francisco from the perspective of where to stay: whether they're close to sights, easy to access by public transportation, active or quiet at night, etc. This is more than enough for me when I'm just looking for a decent place to stay in a North American city; I expect that pretty much any hotel will turn out to be acceptable. It's only when I'm travelling farther afield to places where I might face language or cultural barriers that I worry more about every detail. I don't know whether I'd buy a Discover guide for, say, Egypt, but for San Francisco it worked for me.I've also found that I really appreciate the photo-heavy, highlights-focused approach when I'm just visiting a city for a short time. I might read a travel guide in great detail if I'm going somewhere for three weeks, but three days is a completely different matter. I want to be shown top attractions in an appealing format, and quickly; I'm not going to invest more time in reading the guidebook than I'll be spending on the trip. The Discover San Francisco guide does exactly what I want: I can quickly flip through it to get a sense of what the top sights are and decide what I actually want to see. The photos help a lot with this, and the various attractions also seem to be split up more into individual chunks, rather than listed as part of a paragraph, which again makes it friendlier for skimming rather than sitting down and reading.I've so far used this for a day trip to San Francisco with hardly any planning, and it worked out well; I was satisfied with the attractions that I saw and the limited time that I had to put into doing research beforehand. We didn't even plot out our whole day in advance, but chose a couple of major sights and then used the guidebook to hit other highlights nearby. If that's the kind of trip that you're looking for--a quick visit without a lot of advance planning--then this may be the book for you. But if you want to research every detail ahead of time, then you'll probably prefer the more thorough classic guide.Even for my purposes, this Discover guide wasn't perfect, though. For one thing, I would have liked a transit map or some other useful reference on the back inside cover, instead of just advertisements for other Lonely Planet guides. I also would have liked a reference section of maps at the back of the book, instead of just the pull-out map. There are neighbourhood maps in various sections, but I sometimes wanted an overview, and I find it awkward to deal with a fold-out map while simultaneously walking around carrying a guidebook. Finally, I would have liked the individual attractions to be indexed more precisely to the various maps. The maps have an alpha-numeric grid system around the edges, so why not make use of it by specifying the location of each attraction? I've seen this done in the Mini Rough Guide to New York, so it's not unheard of, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have caught on.Despite these issues, though, I'm satisfied with this book overall. I certainly prefer it to the Frommer's San Francisco guide, which seems to target a more upscale (read: free with their money) audience. This Discover guide achieved its goal of providing an appealing, photo-heavy book that quickly helped me pick out the top attractions that I wanted to see.

This review is for the Kindle and Audible version.To say that when I purchased this book that I was skeptical is putting it mildly. I am 65 years old. I was married for 36 years but I've been out of the dating scene for more than 40 years. The women I am going to be dating are probably not going to be at a bar or a night club to meet men. Therefore my resources were going to be really scanty. I feel like I am entering a dating vacuum. I joined Match.com and my resource pool expanded immensely with the click of a computer key. I met three women in person in my first week on the site and dated one of them once. But something was wrong. I was getting a good many views i.e., of my profile but almost no follow through from them or even a response when I initiated contact. I knew the problem was with me but of course I had no idea what exactly was wrong.My skepticism disappeared after the first chapter. I feared this would be a book filled with superficial gimmicks to trick a woman in order to get a date. I expected it to be shallow, and maybe even callous towards women and their feelings. This book was anything but shallow or callous! Immediately the author tells the reader that as men we must take responsibility for our interaction with women. I immediately began to feel like this book might actually be beneficial for solving my "ME" problem. The book focuses on men adapting to the situation by changing himself. I found the information logical, straight forward, and easy to digest and implement. Before I had finished the book I went to my Match.com profile, erased what I had written and replaced it with information following the guidelines in chapter 5. By the time I finished the book and began to write this review I had received a view and then a "like" notification from a good looking woman. I think the material in this book will help me to change myself into the type of man women want to know and to date.

I would call myself a beginner in this field, but this is not the first book of this kind that I read. However, I'm not a guy that just reads. I was dating a beautiful woman until recently. However, it takes me a lot of time between one woman and another (like years), and I'm socially awkward. I can save myself from total loneliness because I dance pretty well, and that's where I get attention from women (and they hit on me sometimes), but I'd also like to get this under control in order to avoid living in scarcity. The core skill I need now is conversation, because I can already make a certain impression by dancing.This is a really good book, because it gives you precise and actionable information. Even if the author tries to hook you up for some kind of follow-up (a set of free videos in this case), the truth is that the book is already useful as-is, and you can just write down the lessons and tips and go practice immediately. It's not one of those books where the useful stuff is elsewhere behind a paywall. This is legit, and I think everything you need is here.In the past week I've already been practicing the attitude-oriented tips and I noticed the difference. I've engaged in a lot more conversations without hesitation (not only with women), being much more spontaneous. Of course, I'm not talking about greatness, but an improvement. I'm satisfied and excited about the future.Today I read the rest of the book and I feel like pretty much everything I wanted to be covered in such a book is covered, and now I have all I need to get started, and to definitely take off my conversation, and more importantly, connection skills. And not only with women, as many of these things apply to conversations with men. The difference, as I see it, only concerns sexual talk (unless you're interested in men). The rest is the same, and that's great because you can practice all the time, specially storytelling (even with groups).This is great value for a book developing a core skill. I totally recommend it.

Conversation Casanova isn't like most books on dating you'll find out there. The author Dave Perrottta really gets into conversing and connecting with women. He takes you step by step from starting a conversation with a women them to connecting and having meaningful conversations. What I really liked is that he gives you actionable steps you can take to start implementing what he's saying into your life. From reading the book I was able to see that the author knew what he was talking about and has paid his dues. His advice comes from experience and time put in. This book will help you not only connect with women but connect with people too.

Started as a 4 star review. It has some unique tips and specific ideas to help improve your image of women through words. Highlights are p. 151 captivating women through demonstrating manly characteristic in the stories you tell or page 107 the section on teasing. Apparently Ive been flirting but never really tease. Fascinating. Its a good read to help you on/in your game. Haha In the end, I gained some new insight and stuff to practice. For that, Ill give it 5 stars, though I still favor Aaron Sleazys books, or W. Antons What women wabt book. Cheers!

Before this book came out, I took a free online seminar on how to write a picture book put on by the author, Arree Chang. At the very end of the live stream, he read his new book that was not on shelves yet, "Mixed." Instantly, I was captivated the book and its bright colors, fun story line, and deep meaning. Three months later, when it was finally out for the public, I bought it. It was even better on paper! The story starts off with three core colors: red, yellow, and blue. In the beginning, all the colors live in perfect harmony until one day when one color thought they were the best. The colors all segregated and fought over who was best color. But one day, a blue and a yellow met and soon became friends. Later the two decided to get marry and "mix." The two have a daughter and her name is Green. She was unlike any color anyone in town had even soon. Shortly after Green arrived, other colors began to mix and more colors were a result of it. The colors were no longer separated and lived together in harmony once again. Chang's use of symbolism is excellent in this text. I brought this book to a 3rd grade teacher I work with and she loved it. She plans on borrowing it during their color unit. I think this book would great in elementary school and possibly even middle school. It could be used to teach about colors like my co-worker is going to do or it could be used to teach symbolism and the relationship the story has to history. I highly suggest checking out this book.

People can be quick to judge others and children are no different. It can be especially difficult to be welcoming to someone who is quite different from you. As such I am always looking for books that can help me teach the importance of kindness and being welcoming. This book fits that need perfectly. Not only is it a fun way to introduce children to primary colors and how they mix, but the story also shows the dangers of pride: considering ourselves better than others who are different. The story revolves around the Reds, Blues, and Yellows, who are getting along just fine as the story opens. Things change though when a Red loudly declares (and others agree) that Reds are better than the Blues and Yellows. Naturally, the Blues and Yellows don't take this very well and before long the three groups have separated themselves. Things don't change until a Yellow reaches out to a sad-looking Blue and the two become friends before marrying and having a green child. At first, others are shocked at Blue and Yellow associating with each other, but their fascination with Green slowly leads them to open up to associating with each other again. While real life isn't that simple, the idea of reaching out to others who are different and appreciating each other's strengths instead of rejecting them because they are supposedly inferior, is a powerful idea. The illustrations happen to be adorable.

I wish I'd had this book when I taught preschool. It has a lot of great layers. There are so many fun color activities, things like mixing paint or play dough, that parents and teachers can come up with to go with this book. I love its theme of tolerance and acceptance of those who are different than you. And it's the perfect baby gift for racially mixed families.

I love that this teaches two different Houston begs to my young children - colors (primary, secondary etc) and the benefits of diversity and inclusion. Definitely a worthy addition to our rich family library!P.S I was also very impressed by the packaging of the book so I took a couple of pictures to show that as well.

Our family is quite blended. This is the perfect book for our 3 year old daughter. It's great for any age really. We love it so much that we bought an extra one for her pre-school classroom.

This book is amazing! As an adult reading it to my 5 year old, I found it very entertaining and the moral of the story and the climax is just brillant. She loves the simple vibrant drawings that are just...cute. I plan on buying for all my parent-friends and a few teachers i know as well.

About the Author

Dr. Vasant Lad is an Ayurvedic physician who received the degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, (B.M.A.S.) from the University of Pune, in Pune, India in 1968 and the Master of Ayurvedic Science (M.A.Sc.) from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya in Pune, India in 1980. For 3 years he served as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune, India. He also held the position of Professor of Clinical Medicine for seven years at the Pune University College of Ayurvedic Medicine, where he was an instructor for many years. Vasant Lad's academic and practical training includes the study of allopathic medicine (Western medicine) and surgery as well as traditional Ayurveda.

Very well organized and written.

Bought all three volumes - I am amazed at the wisdom in these books. Much of this is forgotten in today’s medicine and most of it is beyond western medicines scope of knowledge. Every doctor today should have these books. If you are an “incurable” or are tired of prescription drugs - you must read these books!

This book is really good. It is written very artistically and it takes the boredom out of textbooks and I would know I have studied many science textbooks (memorised). The book is really well written. I am studying Ayurveda and this book is a total godsend. Enjoy.

i am having trouble properly rating this book.let me offer this simple metaphor: tie your shoes. now imagine having spent an hour and a half reading a convoluted book on how to tie your shoes that was 99 pages long in small print, with detailed instructions, a bibliography, and links to other books on the subject which were out of print. imagine thinking to yourself 'it'll take me a month of practice to learn all of this stuff!' now realize that the act of actually tying your shoes takes maybe 5 seconds if you do it slowly. does it not seem like overkill to you to read that kind of textbook for such a simple act? well, there you have it. rapid inductions are EASY to do once you know the process and have done it a few times. however, the intricate instruction in this book makes them sound unnecessarily complicated. that works against learning the skill.when it comes to quick inductions, there are only a few categories of rapid hypnotism:: relaxation inductions;: catalepsy rapid inductions;: confusion rapid inductions;: physical shock & awe snap inductions; and: emotional shock (name-calling or labelling) snap inductions.there are simple step-by-step actions you need to take to do each of these types of induction. when you know the step-by-step acts, you can do rapid and snap inductions very quickly and easily. the basic instructions are also so open-ended that they allow you to invent as many variations of them as you please on your own, in real time. that gives you both the flexibility of being able to come up with your own techniques, and the power rapid and snap inductions have built into them. unfortunately, jonathan hasn't taken the time to inform you of these setups. result: the book is at least twice as long as it needs to be; each induction has more detailed instruction than you need to know to do the work properly; if you don't understand the subject well, you miss the forest for the trees; and if you do understand the subject well, you will find this book to be long-winded without giving up much in the way of new information.the author does not cover emotional trigger snap inductions but he does cover the other four types in very great detail. he also covers some trauma trance inductions that are based on asphyxiation. those are dangerous and probably more of an insight into the types of military hypnotic techniques used by the nazis, soviets, and americans during world war 2 than anything useful in either stage hypnosis or therapy. from what i understand, there was an act passed in the uk in the 50s that makes asphyxiation inductions illegal, so know where to draw the line in doing your trancework.i am of the opinion that this book is probably a chapter or two from another of jonathan's courses. i know he sells a lot of very detailed courses packed with information. however, taking chunks of detailed information out of courses without giving simple outlines as a reference causes more confusion than insighthaving read some of the other reviews on this book, i plainly see there is some type of smear campaign against the author. i have no dog in that race. all i can say is, be careful of agenda-seekers and the like. i am not here to take sides in anyone's argument. i am only looking for solid information. jonathan royle provides solid information, but in an overly complex fashion without perspective. that may or may not be your cup of tea. for me, the learning was interesting, but overly intricate.my final verdict: careful editing and an overview of the rapid and snap induction processes would turn this from a good but complicated book into a great and simple one. from there, the many techniques in it could be presented as variations, and the book would make a lot more sense to a neophyte or old hand at hypnotic work.

Not well written but the author tries to make his point for the various methods. I have the feeling that the book is more for the wantabe hypnotist rather than a serious text. You might notice that there seems to be a correlation between some of the evangelists and their methods for "saving" folks and how to hypnotize on stage. All in all,any knowledge gained is worthwhile.

I have bought a number of books for my collections on hypnosis and psychology. Most are good enough to at least have a point of view and share that with me - so I think that it worth the read.

I can't give this book a completely fair rating. It got so redundant with the 500 different inductions that was the entire first however many chapters that I started skipping chapters and pages looking for info on what to do when they are actually in a hypnotic state. But I never seemed to find that point, got bored and put it down. Maybe a hard copy would have been easier but on the kindle it was a pain. Will be looking for a more informative but with purpose and less redundancy.

As a hypnotherapist who has used rapid induction techniques for 30 years, I am saddened when I see this kind of shallow manipulative approach. Hypnosis is a state of mind where you are very rational and clear in your perceptions. It is perfect for finding insight and emotional growth. Anything you do as a hypnotist that attempts to control, manipulate or confuse the subject is counter productive.

If you are considering hypnosis as a hobby or career, this is a must read. Inductions are an art. This book gives a working knowledge to get you started. Read this book and PRACTICE.
