I am a huge fan of the original book. I own 60 copies and I use it to teach English10 Honors. It's an excellent resource, but two things drive my students crazy:1. Foster cultivates a voice that's cheeky to the point of arrogance.2. Foster's examples are so esoteric that they've rarely read them and they get lost in the long explanations about them.When I saw this book, I thought: Aha! Change the examples and the tone for kids. PERFECT.But nope. While *some* of the examples have changed, they've changed to things like Dr. Seuss. Not exactly appropriate for my audience. And the tone--even much of the language and many of the examples--is exactly the same.PLUS, he's gotten rid of the "sex" chapters--two chapters that would have done best with a genuine makeover, and two chapters that are essential to navigating some of the banned/challenged books on our booklist.Bummer.

This book is great--I had my principal order a class set to use in my high school English classes. The author goes through specific patterns that students can look for in literature, and what those patterns often mean. This makes it very concrete for students, so they can do more abstract thinking.The title says "for kids" but I would recommend this book for no younger than seventh grade (~12 or 13 years old). The stories and books the author references are more appropriate for secondary students.

My granddaughter’s freshman class is using this book. I bought a copy in order to be able to help her with advice, if need be. One of the first thing’s my granddaughter said to me was, “This book is NOT for kids!” After I read it, I have to agree. While not specific, it does discuss sex in books and symbols that represent sex (e.g. marriage) and other topics beyond the experience of most elementary age children.It’s written in language an eight-year-old could easily understand, but some of the examples and discussions are on topics that are likely beyond the average student in 3rd or 4th grade. The last example in the book would bore them to tears. I’ve worked with children of various ages throughout the years, my daughter is a teacher, and I’ve heard students’ discussions with peers, all of which form the basis of my opinion.All of that said, I believe it’s an excellent book, and totally appropriate for ninth graders. It probably is too easy a book for upper classmen, but this is a book that likely has something new for many students. Instead of ages 8-12, I’d set the ages to 10-14.

Don't be fooled by the title, kids- This is not a boring book. Of course, it's not a very exciting read, but it doesn't contain page after page after page of B, O, R, I, N, G. It's really fun to read, mostly because it's slightly funny, but also because it's literally learning how to make connections between pretty much every book that was ever written- Like a giant conspiracy theory. But I know what you're thinking. "But I don't wanna read a long book about literature! Who wants to study about BOOKS?! For-" Okay, that's quite enough. As I said, it's not boring. Also, this book is more of a branching tutorial on the study of literature. Because, seriously, no one is going to write a five hundred page piece of literature describing literature? I mean, maybe uncle Morty, but... Anyway, this book is extremely useful, and it's not just for kids, despite the title. If you want to impress your English teacher... Give this book a try. Or don't. I can't force you too, but- Hey. Might just improve your grade a bit. Or a lot.

(I'm 14 writing this on my mom's account)this book teaches you how to not only read into books more deeply, but how to write more meaningful stories.It shows you how to intelligently compare books and see how all stories are the same in some aspects. I found this pretty helpful, although some of the examples seemed a little inappropriate for the age group this was trying to appeal to. I doubt many kids have read books like Dracula or a lot of the other works referenced in this book. Even I have never heard of many of the books he talks about, and I am a few years over the suggested age range for this book and LOVE reading. In short, this is a good book, but just doesn't seem like its targeting the right age. It seems like it would be more useful to teenagers, maybe 13 or 14 year olds to 16 year olds. Teenagers might understand the references and be more familiar with the stories this book mentions.

Though it's not the most well-written book I've ever read (which is a little surprising), it does present some interesting perspectives on literature. My sixth-grade students really enjoyed the few chapters that we read together.My biggest complaint is the chapter on vampires as sexual beings. I'm not opposed to that, nor do I disagree; however, that single chapter keeps me from being able to use this book as a free resource in my classroom. While most of the chapters are perfectly usable for bright middle-schoolers, the sexual nature of that chapter "ruins" it. At least at my school.If you have a child who really loves literature (not just reading, but thinking about), then this book will probably be interesting to him or her. But, make sure you are ok with the chapter on vampires.Maybe it should have been called "How To Read Literature Like A Professor: For Teens"?

Definitely for kids. My son was assigned this for high school he felt it was meant for a much younger audience.

As an adult, I enjoyed reading this book. I read the chapter on quests to my homeschooled fifth graders, and I think they learned from it. Mostly, however, I think it's for a bit older age level than fifth/sixth grade, so we will hold off on the remainder.

I have struggled to find the right words to start this review ... and the only word that feels close enough to accurately describe my feelings about this book is speechless.CJ has a way of bringing beautifully broken people to life without sugarcoating their pain and their flaws. Her characters are raw and unapologetic about who they are, and you can’t help but love them even more for it. She strips everything down and allows us to see them as they truly are, human. They make mistakes. They try to do what they think is best even if it may not be the right thing. They sometimes push away the people the love, not because they want to but because they are trying to protect them. She takes the broken pieces of her characters and molds them together in a way that truly works for them, it may not for everyone but it does for them.The Bullets don’t just need Sunshine, they need each other. Ryker knew how to reign in Gav from lashing out at Sunshine. Callum knew that the Bullets needed him to take control while Gav was healing. Blaise knew just when the others were in need of a good laugh. Gav knew what it would take for Callum to finally accept he was a Bullet. They are Bullets and they need one another to survive, just like they need Sunshine.There are so many moments in this book that will tear your heart to shreds. I’m not going to go into any details with those scenes because I don’t want to give too much away. There are two that stick out the most to me: the motel after the fight and the Sunshine’s revelation in the SUV. They broke my heart it just the right way and I couldn’t ha d asked for better moments with our beloved Bullets.As always we can rely on Nix and Blaise to lighten the mood, though Ryker came through with a couple of solid good comedic moments. Hell even Gav got a laugh or two from me. Though I do think Blaise was into something about the name thing. As always Nix made me laugh the hardest with his idea of the perfect proposal, I’m still dying over it.I couldn’t have dreamed up a better ending for our beloved Bullets. It’s bittersweet because I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully let them go. In that sense I guess you could say I’m a Bullet forever.

What a crazy ride!Love and Lead was the perfect ending to the dark and emotional adventure of Sunshine and the Bullets. This series is without a doubt one of my all time favorites. The feelings in this book go deep. All the bullets need time to heal and cope with what happened in the past, while remaining vigilant for the threat that is Santobello.The tension is palpable, but together, the bullets will come out of this stronger.Coralee's writing is outstanding as always, she's probably the only writer I trust when it comes to dark romance. Her writing makes it better, lighter. She balances out the light and the dark in a way that makes you feel every emotion without getting lost in darkness. It's not a sappy romance, it is dark, our heroes aren't perfect, but they will do anything to keep each other safe.Coralee introduces us to Alessandro and we get to see a little bit more from Grace Moretti. And I guess we will get to know them even better in Nix's story. Yay! I did miss Nix's presence in this book, but I know Coralee will make up for that in Bitter Pills.I would give this book more than a 5 star rating if I could, because it exceeded all my expectations.Bullets forever!

This right here is why I aways wait anxiously for a CoraLee June book to come out. Her writing is just so gritty and I can't ever get enough. I felt this was a perfect ending to Sunshine and her Bullets, though I am anxious to see what's going on with Nix. This will forever be a series that I read over and over again! Thank you for your amazing writing!!

I can't figure out whom I love more in this finale to the epic Bullets series... Is it the playful yet hard as steel Blaise? Quiet and steadfast Ryker? Callum, who romances the rules but is no longer afraid to break them? Or Gav, the sweet, controlling - always knowing what others need and forcing them to take it - boss ruling over it all? I really couldn't say. But I'm sure glad Sunshine got to keep each and every one of them. Who knows... Maybe she is the boss now.Love and Lead is a true 5 star read. I couldn't have wished it any better.

I am not going to give things away in this book but if you loved Books 1 and 2, you will not be disappointed. We get to see the characters recover from the catastrophic explosion at the end of Book 2 and see how they can come back together emotionally and physically to defeat the baddie. I loved this series so much, I can't wait to see them all on audio and to listen to Sunshine and her men! I also am looking forward to the possible spinoff with Nix and his love interests. I cried when this book was over, sad but super satisfied with how Coralee June brought it all back together. Loved the ending, it fit the way the Bullets have lived up until this book and totally made sense. Amazing job ❤️❤️❤️

This trilogy has been an insane journey of ups and downs and just all the feels...CJ writes in a way that you actually forget you are just a reader and become part of the world...and the Bullets world is where I want to be. Hot, sexy, protective men and a heroine that truly reaches inside herself and survives it all. I’m so sad that it’s over but the ending leaves me feeling perfectly content. CJ has blown it out of the park yet again!

I wanted to cry, this book was awesome, this whole series was absolutely awesome. I loved Sunshine & her smexy guys. Even though trouble was always a step behind them, the Bullets stuck together. I like the different personalities of the guys, they are so cool.

Her characters are amazing. You don't think you'd love Gav but you can't help but fall for him. His need to control, to boss Sunshine around makes you want him in your own life. If he was, how much would he give you and not let you hide from yourself or him.Blaise was an instant fall, his charisma is universal. Ryker is the devastatingly devoted love you would kill for and Callum is the sweetest cherry on the top of the ice cream sundae.

This one is no exeption. For anyone who has a hunger for the Holy Spirit, I recommend this book fully to everyone who is wanting more in their Christian walk and yearning for more power in their Christian life. This book is filled not only with Smith Wigglesworth's personal testimonies which are vivid and demonstrates the power of the Holy Spirit, but also filled with scriptures. Through these powerful testimonies, you will learn to experience the power, intimacy and the truth of the Holy Spirit as every Child of God is commended to experience. I also enjoyed the parts where Wigglesworth writes out his interpretation of tongues, where he prays in the will of God and interprets it and puts it in the written page. Very Powerful !

So full of good and truth. 100 years later these truths and words are like today. The same issues, concerns, needs, and wants all presented in an easy good read. It’s refreshing and focused. It’s hard not to put it down, but you must to absorb its goodness. It is charismatic for the beginner and advanced.

Once you get used to the author's style of writing this book reads well. I found the material inspiring. If you are looking for more of your spiritual walk you must read this book.

These ideas should be timeless. However I did feel like I was reading something from a historic manuscript rather than something relevant today. Perhaps a an updated edition with scripture from a contemporary Bible rather than the KJV and updated examples would make the truths of this book more palatable to a 21st century reader.

This book is inspiring and to the point. It is great for preachers, teachers and other leaders in the church. It talks about the Holy Ghost being the power that God gave to those that live for Him... a great book.

Refreshing perspective on the "Deeper Life". Without a doubt, Wigglesworth was a pioneer and an example of what can be done as we would submit ourselves to the Father through Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit. May his tribe increase! Without a doubt, he has very much fruit!

Wonderful book. Smith Wigglesworth was a great teacher. His legacy lives on in his writings and teachings. You will learn a great deal from his books, teachings.

I agree, he did it again. The author brings forward many difficult situations that we face in the world, but always with an answer that turns you back to the Word. He brings the gospel in such a practical way, answering hard questions with difficult answers in a way that everybody can relate. Divorce, rebellion, drugs, abuse are all around us, affecting most of us, leave wounds in our soul that only Jesus can heal. Tyler and Olivia's story touches your heart , because both of them ends up hurting , but God is ultimately in control. I appreciate the way Scripture is quoted and that the glory and honour is given to our Saviour.A book to be enjoyed and to be read more than once.

Mr. Chapin has once again captured the reality of life issues. His characters are brought to life by his skill at making them believable, lovable, and relevant. He doesn't preach, but the characters' common issues that people face and find how they find God can lead and direct, help them see Him at work in their lives. This is another wonderful book! I am very much looking forward to the next in this series!

Oh, wow! This is a very good book, a story of Tyler and Olivia. The picture of life without Christ as Savior and life with Christ as Savior is phenomenal. The book is full of Scripture, prayers, godly advise, and loving friends. This story also shows the depravity of a life of drugs, denying God's existence, and legalism. A Christian life is not about trying to obey the rules, but allowing God to fully live in us so we can obediently serve Him by choice. Tyler's character portrays unconditional love beautifully.

Oh my goodness! This book is so good! It is written so well and the characters seem so real. I love the longer book. I didn’t want to put it down. I have read many of T. K. Chaplin’s books. They are all wonderful. This one is the best!

A young woman full of mistrust and addictions discovers the reality of the God who loves her, and is blessed with the love of the man God has chosen to walk the journey with her.

Another good book by T.K. Chapin. I loved all of his christian books. This book was sooo good, with a man loving a woman and willing to wait for her. Praise GOD for all of his blessings, and I pray for the patience and understanding we all should have toward one another. Praise GOD, such a good book. Thank you again T.K. Chapin.

This is a good book with several great spiritual lessons. It was a little lengthy and I wish some of the book were omitted and the end not so abrupt. I’m still glad I read it. The spiritual benefits were worth it.
