I had wanted this book for a long time it wasn't cheap. I was at the time getting ready to restore a Meadowbrook cart.I wanted the book as a reference. Well that never happened, but I did go through the book and read upon some of the carriages. Then I looked up the author! Wow if you want to read about a crime look him up. Very bizzare.Anyhow this is a very good reference and I would reccomend it.I will be selling mine because I no longer have horses.
There are very, very few dictionaries of horse-drawn vehicles and this is one of the best, written by one of the best. The roots of this publication go back to mid-19th century American research but it's coverage encompasses modern designs as well and discusses vehicles from all over the globe as well. It includes comprehensive sections of harnessing and carriage parts terminology, impossible to find elsewhere.
A great historical book for those interested in carriage driving and carriages. It contains a wealth of information and the illustrations are wonderful. I bought this book, a friend saw it, and she bought the same book, because mine was so nice.
